Veteran Bollywood Actor “Om Puri” Dies of Cardiac Attack at the age of 66

The famous long time actor Om Puri passed away this morning due to a heart attack

He was 66 years old, and his death is a shocking news not only for his fans but in entire Indian film Industry. His death is regretted by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and several Bollywood celebrities. Friends of Om Puri and Bollywood colleagues have reached his Andheri residence, and his body has been taken to Cooper hospital for postmortem after which funeral will be held. Puri left away from his two spouses Seema Kapoor and Nandita Puri, and his son Ishaan Puri.

Om Prakash Puri was an Indian actor who has acted in numerous Bollywood movies and has also appeared in British and American films. Puri was born on 18 October 1950 in Ambala, Punjab, and he died on 6 January 2017 in Andheri, Mumbai. Puri graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune as well as from  National School of Drama, Delhi.

Filmography of Om Puri

His first film was a Marathi film ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’ that was released in the year 1976. In 1999, Om Puri played a memorable role of a Strict Police officer who tries to keep the city safe from gangsters in the  Kannada movie ‘A.K. 47‘. He played the role of Lahanya Bhiku in the Bollywood movie ‘Aakrosh‘ (1980), for which he got the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. In 2003, Puri acted in an English film ‘Code 46‘ and in a British TV serial ‘Second Generation‘. He has also appeared in a Punjabi film ‘Bhaji in Problem‘ (2013), and in a Malayalam film ‘Aadupuliyattam‘ (2016).

Some of his famous  Hindi movies include ‘Ardh Satya‘ (1983), ‘Ghayal‘ (1990), ‘Maachis‘ (1996), ‘Agneepath‘ (2012), ‘Chaar Din Ki Chandni‘ (2012), ‘Chakravyuh‘ (2012), ‘Dirty Politics‘ (2015) and ‘The Jungle Book‘ (2016).

Puri is the winner of two Filmfare Awards and two National Film Awards. He has also been honored with Padma Shri in 1990. Before his death, he was working for a Kannada film ‘Tiger’ that was scheduled to be released in 2017.

Om Puri has now no more with us, only his memories are there. We all pray to God that his soul remains in peace. He will always be missed for his incredible contribution to Cinema and Indian Film Industry. May his soul rest in Peace.
